Adobe's Photoshop Security Reaches a Sad New Low [Photoshop]

Adobe Photoshop CS5.5 was released about a year ago. CS6 is out now, but with 5.5 barely being a year old, anyone who bought it could safely expect Adobe to keep it up to date for a while, right? Not so much. More »

Definition of a Successful Entrepreneur | Business Marketing Girl

So you want to be an entrepreneur, or maybe you already are one, but you want to know if you are hitting all the benchmarks of a ?successful entrepreneur?.

How do you define success? Is it income, assets, leadership, reputation, connections or combination of all of them? Success is defined differently by everyone. Your idea of success may not be someone else?s idea of success and visa-versa. Here are some universally recognized traits of a successful entrepreneur:

?

  • Must have absolute, unwavering, heartfelt passion for your business. Entrepreneurs face many pitfalls, challenges and in many cases; disasters along the road to success. If you don?t have passion for what you do, you will lose interest very quickly and your business will fail. Luckily, most business owners are driven by passion, so this quality is usually always in abundance.

?

  • Must be able to think on your feet and solve problems quickly. Not everyone is problem solver. Don?t you hate colleagues that moan and complain about work problems, but never offer solutions? They are NOT cut out to be entrepreneurs. Successful entrepreneurs have an answer for every challenge, and if they don?t, they will find someone who does. Businesses thrive when they are led by people who avert disaster and turn adverse situations to their advantage.

?

  • Must be one step ahead of everyone else. Remember your competition? Yes they?re always breathing down your neck. You?ve got to keep them guessing because you know they will copy you, undercut you and try to start a price war. Don?t let that happen. Keep them scratching their heads by constantly evolving, improving and introducing new products and services to the market.

?

  • Must a great networker (or at least partner with someone who is). You may be a painfully shy geek. That is not going to win you any popularity contests, but don?t let it hold you back from developing social relationships with business partners or prospects. You never know what deals are done in the gym/club/golf course. Partner up with someone who is an extrovert and have them do all the schmoozing for you.

?

  • Have tons of energy. You need lots of physical, mental and emotional energy to be a successful entrepreneur. You can never call in sick, hide under the covers when you feel down or shy away from responsibilities because you feel exhausted or drained. Build up your reserves by having as balanced a life as possible; fresh air, exercise, relaxation and a positive outlook will all help you survive the battle on a day to day basis.

Successful entrepreneurs keep going no matter what. They surround themselves with big thinkers and positive people. If you strive to be a success, following some of these tips will help you achieve the impossible. Good luck!

NVIDIA outs GeForce GTX 670 GPU: it's Kepler without the mortgage

This'll be old news for some lucky folks, but NVIDIA has just unveiled the GeForce GTX 670 graphics card. It aims to bring Kepler to gamers who don't have off-shore bank accounts, with a price tag of $399 (or £329 in the UK, and €329 in Europe). What sacrifices will be made to reach that bracket, compared to the flagship GTX 680? A loss of 192 CUDA cores, for starters, plus a slightly slower 915MHz base clock speed, which will no doubt have an impact on benchmarks -- we'll do a review round-up shortly to figure out just how much. Nevertheless, you'll still get the same 28nm chip architecture and 2GB of DDR5 RAM, along with NVIDIA's GPU Boost technology that autonomously overclocks the processor to make use of available headroom. In terms of official performance claims, NVIDIA has chosen to compare its benchmarks to AMD's high-end Radeon HD 7950 and boasts that the GTX 670 comes out on top every time by a margin of 18 to 49 percent. Of course, the war of words is little more than performance art at this point, so stay tuned for independent tests.

Meanwhile, gaming-friendly manufacturers like Origin and Maingear have declared that they'll carry the card alongside the 690 in its desktop offerings -- you can learn more about that after the jump.

RIM continues its fuel cell streak, applies for two more patents

RIM continues its fuel cell streak, applies for two more patents

Looks like RIM is more interested in fuel cell technology than we thought: the BlackBerry maker has just applied for two closely related patents for including a fuel cell in an electronic device, one for the frame and one for the fuel tank itself. Although the primary aim of either patent is to show how to fit a fuel cell into the tight space of a mobile gadget, they do show a more rectangular and modern device chassis than the last patent we saw, which had more than a slight whiff of the classic BlackBerry about it. Neither application is necessarily a roadmap for the future, and they don't mean your next BlackBerry smartphone will need top-ups of lighter fluid or methanol every few weeks. Still, they hint that fuel cells are at least somewhat more than a passing fancy in Waterloo.

Toshiba's 55XS5 brings quad HD without the glasses-free 3D tech to Japan in June

Toshiba's 55XS5 brings quad HD without the glasses-free 3D tech to Japan in June

While we're still waiting for Toshiba to deliver its top of the line 55X3 HDTV with 4K resolution and glasses-free 3D technology here in the US, it just announced a step-down model in Japan. The Regza 55XS5 keeps the 3840 x 2160 LCD panel, but switches to edge LED lighting instead of local dimming and drops 3D altogether, autostereoscopic or otherwise. There's a CEVO Duo image processing engine inside the slimmed-down frame upconverting your standard HDTV res inputs to QFHD, as well as support for apps and USB hard drive for recording broadcasts. This model should ship in June on the other side of the Pacific for an "open price" expected to be around 750,000 yen ($9,410 US), slightly lower than the X3's 900,00 yen launch price last December.

Razer Naga MMO mouse gets some work done, fresh for 2012

Razer Naga MMO mouse gets work done for 2012

It's fair to say we admire the Razer Naga MMO 'round these parts -- as much for its thumb-thrashing controls, as for its democratic diplomacy. Now the original is back, and updated for 2012. What's new? Well, there's a redesigned anti-slip, fingerprint-fighting finish, three interchangeable side panels and a re-optimized button placement. It's all designed to stop your fevered swipes from landing your mouse on the other side of the LAN, and help fend off a dreaded bout of "Warfare-wrist". Reckon you deserve an upgrade? US and EU gamers can get their $80 dollar-laden hand on it now, and the rest of the realm later in Q2.
