The Microsoft IT Enterprise Architecture team is looking for a senior leader to augment the senior talent in the current team. The Enterprise Architect (EA) discipline delivers relevant and consumable enterprise-wide architecture resulting in the identification and delivery of business strategy enabling IT capabilities. The focus is on defining and using the enterprise-level relationships, flows and implementation of business (processes/activities/functions, information), applications, data and technology and the transitional processes necessary for implementing technology in response to changing business needs. The Enterprise Architect develops and uses architectural best practices, addressing application, data and technology in the context of supporting business processes across business segments. The position provides leadership direction and accountability for strategic application architecture plans, system design, and implementation. The enterprise focused Enterprise Architect also determines and develops architectural approaches and solutions, conducts business reviews, documents current systems in the enterprise portfolio, and recommends how to proceed with the enterprise impacting processes, platforms and applications (replace, retire, maintain, etc.) in alignment with enterprise reference architectures, principles and standards. The position also develops and tailors application design concepts, long-term roadmaps and implementation plans for the efficient transformation of the current application portfolio in alignment with enterprise initiatives.
General Responsibilities
- Manage the overall architectural landscape for target themes across the enterprise
- Evaluate current architectures
- Develop an implementation plan for key aspects of enterprise architecture based on business requirements and IT strategies
- Lead analysis of the current business and IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement
- Identify solution, architecture, process and capability gaps and propose incubation efforts to address the gaps
- Document all architecture design and analysis work
- Improve business and IT collaborative decision-making processes
- Develop, improve, validate, and use tools to facilitate enterprise architecture efforts
- Develop business models, reference architectures and technology strategies that describe the context for developed enterprise software
Technical Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and support in the deployment of complex applications in global distributed computing environments
- Ensure overall solution-level integrity of applications
Business-Related and Strategic Planning Responsibilities
- Collaborate with architects across the enterprise to identify strategic opportunities and in the rationalization of cross segment dependencies
- Communicate and collaborate with top level executives and IT engineering and operations teams
- Influence segment specific roadmaps and program strategies in alignment with enterprise initiatives
- Develop and maintain global technology roadmaps and application evolution plans
- Contribute to the development of Microsoft?s enterprise architecture
- Lead the identification and analysis of enterprise business drivers and requirements that drive the future state architecture
- Facilitate the governance and use of enterprise architecture principles, guidance and reference architectures
